Sometimes you can get some decent images from a smart phone camera. We were told at SIGGRAPH 2014 not to bring cameras to the convention so I left my SLR at home but did manage to capture a few decent shots with my smart phone. While the majority of work I do is related to Engineering Design I am in the process of moving towards high fidelity CAD image rendering, CAD animation, and 3D printing to bring life to drab solid engineering models created in programs like Solidworks and Creo. SIGGRAPH is a worthy organization to be a part of if you see yourself moving into a digital arts career.
While I really like working in the digital realm I really like working on personal projects in more traditional methods. It never hurts to unplug and just doodle. Below are a few SIGGRAPH doodles I made while waiting for panels to start.
